🔭 From the Desk of Paul Bracken:

"You might ask why we have a fictional ship in our Spacecraft collection, right alongside real historical hardware like the Space Shuttle. The reason, of course, is that this iconic vessel inspired so many of us to take an interest in the real business of space exploration. For me, this ship put the science into science fiction. While its design and proposed method of propulsion drew from pure speculation, its creators made a real effort to ground themselves in plausible—albeit improbable—scientific concepts, like warp drive and the use of antimatter as an energy source. I also love the very noticeable fact that the ship is clearly intended as a true space vehicle, built to travel between the stars, and not at all suited to traveling within the atmosphere or gravity well of a planetary body. It is a masterpiece of speculative engineering."
